New teacher? Becoming a teacher is so much more than just getting a degree or certification. This session will bring in ideas that new teachers need that aren't taught in school or certification programs. Topics like how to set up the lesson plan and what to include in the multiple parts of a lesson are taught. What isn't taught is the "been there done that" answers from other teachers that can help new teachers prepare for the different situations that arise in a classroom. This session has real-life examples and advice on aligning standards to lessons, classroom management, collaboration with academic and other CTE teachers, planning with backup assignments, and identifying your strengths to use in the classroom to gain your students' attention.

Come explore the new half-credit Personal Finance course standard, Understanding Taxes. Take a deep dive into key indicators, including basic tax terminology, the purpose and types of taxes, computing taxes, analyzing tax forms, evaluating how taxes impact disposable income, computing gross earnings, payroll deductions, net pay, and filling out an individual income tax return form.
